Monroe advances to final
The Monroe All-Stars wrapped up tournament play in the 2010 Dixie Boys World Series last weekend in Christianburg, Va. with a second-place finish in the tournament.
Monroe (16-2) represented the state of Louisiana after claiming the state tournament championship three weeks ago.
The Monroe squad reached the championship game last Wednesday following a long series of events that included losing a coin flip and beating North Carolina on the field while falling to Mississippi, 5-4.
Monroe, North Carolina and Mississippi all entered the final day of competition with a 3-1 mark in tournament play.
