Club competes at nationals

The Peak Performance Track Club in Monroe recently returned from a trip to the United States Track and Field Junior National Championships where the team experienced both hardships and personal triumphs.

The local team had planned to send five local youth to Sacramento, Calif. for the event, but Monroe thrower Nia Banks ended up grounded in Monroe when her flight got mixed up.

"Her flight from Monroe to Houston got messed up," coach Dennis Groll said. "Which made her miss her connecting flight." Banks missed the meet but is expected to be right back in the thick of national competition for the next several years.
