Fallen, not forgotten
Vietnam veteran Ron Griggs firmly grasped John Mark Wilhite's hand under the hot sun and thanked him for his family's contribution to the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
Wilhite, president of Louisiana Plastic Industries in West Monroe, joined dozens of community leaders, local veterans and Chennault Museum director Nell Calloway Tuesday to officially unveil the museum's new Fallen Soldier Memorial.
Griggs fought back tears as he stood and listened to Calloway talk about why the statue was important.
