Groundbreaking held for Oliver Road project

Monroe city officials held groundbreaking ceremonies this week to kick off the Oliver Road Widening project.

The $1.8 million dollar project will widen Oliver Road between Forsythe and Tower Drive from two lanes to three lanes; and, install underground drainage on the east side of Oliver Road.

The project is being funded by Federal Stimulus Funds (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). Project contractor Jeff Mercer Construction has been given 90 working days (weather permitting) to complete the project. The project should be completed in the fall of 2010.
