Schleuter to retire from Monroe PD
Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo received suspended police chief Ron Schleuter's letter of resignation Wednesday afternoon, two days after Mayo's decision to demote Schleuter to the rank of captain.
Following Mayo's announcement Monday to demote Schleuter, his attorneys sought a temporary restraining order in 4th Judicial District Court, claiming Schleuter's demotion violated his civil rights.
Fourth Judicial District Court Judge Alvin Sharp granted that request on late Monday, halting any disciplinary action against Schleuter.
