Overloaded or overaged?

About four or five years ago, I did something that still causes my wife, Donna, and me to bust out in laughter. As you read this article, you will probably think that I fabricated this story for my column. I promise this is a true account.

Donna has provided many of the funnies over the years, but on this particular occasion, I was the star of this sequence of events. Each time that we are reminded of this incident, it brings tears to our eyes. Not tears of sadness, you understand, but a pure, gut-wrenching belly laugh that produces a continuous flow of tears.

My brother Joe Beck had come by the house to see if I wanted to ride with him to look at a camp on Lake Darbonne. It was a nice afternoon drive. After looking at the camp, we walked out on the dock, which reminded me of the docks on Lake Bruin near St. Joseph. I loved Lake Bruin. It gave me so many good memories from 6 years old, all the way to adulthood.
