The District 5 softball team will be boarding a plane this week to Kalamazoo, Mich. where they will represent the state of Louisiana in the Big League World Series.

The local team is comprised of players from West Monroe High School, West Ouachita High School, Claiborne Christian School, Sterlington and Bastrop. The team won the Southwest regional championship at the University of Louisiana-Monroe softball complex last weekend.

"It is a wonderful feeling to be able to take this group of local girls to the World Series," head coach Steve Privitor said. "We will have a chance to play some of the best softball teams in the world and represent our state. It is a real honor."
