Monroe gives $250k to ULM
Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council presented a check Wednesday for $250,000 to the University of Louisiana-Monroe at ULM's University Park/Softball Complex for continued upgrades that will prep it for tournament play, including new entrance gates, flag poles, new roofing for the dugouts, drainage, and a brick backstop and netting on all fields.
ULM has a long-standing partnership with the city of Monroe, as well as the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau, through their support of University Park.
The 20-year partnership between the university and the city began with the university's donation of the land and matching grant monies from the City of Monroe.
