|Dianne Cage: Cool weather, crape myrtles and okra|
The Vail Valley Music Festival. Vail Colo., what a beautiful part of our beloved U.S.A.! Besides being with part of our favorite family, Nancy and Carrick Inabnett, what a glorious long weekend Mike and I had. Friday evening The New York Philharmonic, Alan Gilbert, Music Director & Conductor and Jonathan Bliss on the Piano. Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 4 and Schumann; Symphony No. 2.
Early Saturday morning off to a wonderful trail ride in the mountains and a lovely picnic by a meandering river that was sparkling with rays of gentle sunshine. After a quick shower, off to hear Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider playing the Violin. Nikolaj is really good, but I think our own Chris Thompson is a little bit better. After the concert we met friends of the Inabnetts, from Houston, at Sweet Basil, a trendy restaurant that was delicious. There was summer markets, shopping, hiking and good fellowship. What a cool, cool time we had in every way!
