Local hitter wins home run derby
Former Sterlington all-district baseball player Mark Threlkeld recently won the 2010 Northwoods Home Run Derby at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisc.
The Home Run Derby pitted eight top hitters from the Northwoods League, a summer league for college players to continue to improve and get national recognition by pro scouts and the media.
The 2009 winner of the derby, Harold Riggins from North Carolina State was back to defend his title, but was out done by the current La. Tech third baseman.
