Residents near Sterlington want street reopened Residents along Power Avenue near Sterlington hope the Ouachita Parish Police Jury can address access issues in their subdivision.
Currently the intersection of Power Avenue and La. 2 near ANGUS Chemical Plant in Sterlington is closed. The intersection was closed by the state Department of Transportation and Development for the construction of Sterlington's new Ouachita River bridge. With Power Avenue closed, residents use Solvent Road as the only access road into and out of their subdivision.
Edward Clark, who lives on Power Avenue, said residents are concerned they do not have an emergency escape route if a crisis such as a chemical spill or plant explosion arises, similar to the event that occurred in the early 1990s.For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
