Charges dropped against Thompson, Billy Coenen and Terry Denmon in

Former Poverty Point Reservoir District director Mike Thompson was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in federal prison stemming from his conviction of violating the Hobbs Act.
Presiding in U.S. District Court in Monroe, Judge Robbie James also handed Thompson an $8,000 fine.

James ordered Thompson to surrender to authorities by Aug. 23, to begin serving his sentence. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons will inform Thompson where to report.

Federal sentencing guidelines require that persons convicted in federal court serve no less than 85 percent of their sentence, which includes allowances for time off for good behavior.
