While the legislative session ended how one Ouachita Parish school system official expected, he's disappointed Gov. Bobby Jindal vetoed a $16.3 million appropriation to pay stipends for nationally certified teachers.

Jindal's line-item veto of the stipend funding from the state's 2010-2011 budget means school systems across the state will have to pick up the tab.

That will hit Ouachita Parish Schools with a $500,000 expense, according to Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber.
