Monroe region loses jobs

Total non-farm employment for the Monroe region was estimated at 76,400 for May 2010, an increase of 400 jobs from last month.

May's employment statistics were recently released by Louisiana Workforce Commission. Compared to a year ago, the Monroe region lost 600 jobs, according to Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Goods-producing employment showed no change from April, while losing 400 jobs from a year ago. Service-providing jobs gained 400 jobs over April, while showing a loss of 200 jobs from May 2009.
