Mammals topic of 'Wet and Wild' program at refuge

A summer program for boys and girls going into the fourth through sixth grades will be held 8:30-11 a.m. July 8 at the Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

The event, called "What Mammals Live Here? Oh Deer!" is the third "Wet and Wild" adventure this summer.

Participants will go on a discovery expedition looking for signs of mammals living on the refuge.
Children will have the opportunity to identify and make plaster casts from tracks and look for mammal homes, and partially eaten foods. While cooling off in the Conservation Learning Center, children can examine mammal skulls and identify what various animals eat by looking at their teeth.
