Mayo in D.C. for 'Green' conference
Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo joined 26 other African-American mayors this week in Washington, D.C. for the National Conference of Black Mayors Green the City program.
The National Conference of Black Mayors set a goal for a minimum of 51 percent of its member cities to have "green city plans."
The initial focus will begin with Mayo and the city of Monroe, along with mayors representing 25 other U.S. cities.
