New Ouachita flood maps take effect in July
Residents in several areas throughout Ouachita Parish will find that their homes are now located in flood zones, according to updated FEMA flood maps.
Ouachita Parish Police Jury engineer Tom Holtzclaw said there are "noted changes" with the new flood maps compared to existing FEMA flood maps, which date to 1994.
"Areas designated as flood zones now were not on our current maps," Holtzclaw said.
