Parish to spend state funds on asbestos removal

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury agreed to spend roughly $30,000 in state funding to pay for asbestos removal in vacant buildings owned by the parish.

The buildings were once used by G.B. Cooley Hospital Service District before they were vacated.

According to parish attorney Jay Mitchell, asbestos is present in the buildings but currently there is no threat of it spreading.
