One dead, one hurt in accident The Monroe man who shot a postman, lead authorities on a high-speed chase and eventually committed suicide Tuesday faced several charges in 4th Judicial District Court for attempted second degree murder and aggravated arson.
Ezra Richards, 48, of 142 Jennifer Lane, chased down Damon Williams, a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier, Tuesday afternoon near the Ouachita Parish School Board office. After Richards rammed his truck into Williams' U.S. mail vehicle, Williams excited his vehicle and fled on foot. Richards chased after Williams and eventually shot him in the buttocks.
Williams dashed into the school board office where staff helped him until paramedics arrived. Richards then led authorities on a high speed chase which ended when he crashed into a bridge on U.S. 165 South. According to police, he then turned the gun on himself. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
