If the Ouachita Parish Police Jury intends to place a proposed property tax renewal for Ouachita Correctional Center on October's ballot, police jurors must act on the matter at their regular meeting next week.

That's according to Charles Jackson, who serves as chairman of the police jury's finance committee. Jackson discussed the OCC property tax matter with The Ouachita Citizen on Wednesday.

Jackson believes the police jury will choose not to ask voters to renew millages levied for capital outlay improvements at OCC and Green Oaks Detention Center.
