Parish in holding position while VVC awaits word

V-Vehicle Co. resubmitted its loan application to the U.S. Department of Energy and local officials will take a wait-and-see approach before setting a firm date to return local tax dollars that were collected to assist the VVC project.

That's according to Police Jury President Shane Smiley, who spoke to The Ouachita Citizen Tuesday afternoon about VVC and how its latest move affected the parish.

"I was aware they were going to be resubmitting the loan," Smiley said. "I've had discussions with people from V-Vehicle's administrative team, and they feel optimistic about the reapplication process. However, they weren't able to give me any specific timeframe."
