OCS takes crown Ouachita Christian School (25-10) left no doubt Saturday about who the elite club in LHSAA Class 1A baseball is as the Eagles clobbered No. 4 St. Mary's, 11-0, in five innings to win OCS their second baseball state championship in the last nine seasons.
The OCS offense was red hot from the start, scoring six runs in the opening frame. Mark Laird started the game with a triple on just the first pitch of the game.
On the very next offering, Paul Michael Garner launched a high fastball deep over the left-field fence to give OCS a quick 2-0 advantage. Two batters later, Creighton Jones, who trailed only Laird in batting average for the OCS club this season, belted a double of his own to keep the onslaught going. For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
