Longview High School snagged one of the area's top high school basketball coaches when they named former Ouachita coach Casey Jones as their head coach over a month ago.

Few imagined that they would dip back into the head coaching pool of Ouachita parish and take even more coaching talent just weeks later. That is exactly what transpired on Tuesday morning when West Monroe head coach Bakari Beckwith announced he would become an assistant at Longview under his long-time friend and mentor, Jones. Like Jones, Beckwith departs the area for the first time in his life.

Beckwith played high school basketball at Ouachita and spent his first years of his decorated career as an assistant under Jones.
