Area track teams competed at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge over the weekend with solid results, including a state championship win for a West Ouachita High School competitor.

The Ouachita Christian School girls finished second in the state at the event. In Class 2A, the Sterlington Lady Panthers finished second overall in the team standings.

Ashton Chowns of OCS finished second in the 1,600-meter race. Chowns also took third in both the 800-meter and 3,200-meter events. OCS was well represented in the 800-meter race as Camille Reffett also finished fifth in the state.
