One of the area's best known track families is sending its next generation to the college ranks as Tarvia Conway signed a national letter of intent to go to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette next year.

Conway will compete in the long jump and triple jump events. She took top honors in the Region I track and field competition in 2010 and finished sixth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump at the LHSAA Class 5A track and field championships held at LSU's Bernie Moore Track on Saturday.

In the long jump, Conway completed a jump of 17 feet, 10.75 inches.
