A community that cares ...

While the nation pays tribute to law enforcement as part of National Police Week, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney knows well that northeast Louisiana supports the local law enforcement community.

He saw firsthand the outpouring of support from Ouachita Parish residents and the surrounding area when one of his deputies was gunned down in the line of duty.

Thousands of people lined the streets of West Monroe in early March to pay their respects to Cpl. J.R. Searcy as a motorcade of law enforcement vehicles from around the state and beyond slowly followed the Searcy family to a cemetery.
