St. Francis unveils nursing display St. Francis Medical Center began National Nurses Week by unveiling a new, permanent historical nursing display in the main lobby of the downtown hospital.
The display features a St. Francis School of Nursing cape and diploma donated by Doris Falkenheiner. The cape belonged to Falkenheiner's mother, Doris Fenton Falkenheiner.
Fenton Falkenheiner attended the St. Francis School of Nursing and graduated October 4, 1935. The display will also feature a pin attached to the nursing cape. The pin belonged to Eileen Corcoran, who graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1942 and dedicated her life to others through her nursing career that spanned more than half a century at St. Francis Medical Center. A nursing uniform is also included in the historical display. The uniform was worn by Martiel Pierce, who attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1945. For the full report and a photo, see Page 12A of this week's Citizen.
