OPPJ looks at hiring felons
The Ouachita Parish Police Jury may consider revising its hiring policy to allow for the employment of people convicted previously of a felony.
Jurors Pat Moore and Dr. Ollibeth Reddix believe the parish needs to adopt this policy change in order to convince other employers in Ouachita Parish to also consider hiring people who have returned to society after being convicted of a felony.
The overall goal of this policy change would be to help reduce the recidivism rate at the Ouachita Correctional Center, the jurors said.
