The city of Monroe recently received a check for $1.1 million from Entergy as part of a $7 million settlement agreement reached in 2006.

In July 2006, the Monroe City Council announced a $7 million settlement agreement between the city and Entergy after years of debate over an operating agreement issue that dates to 2002. The operating agreement was the document both parties agreed to for the purchase of the city's electrical distribution system in 1982. The agreement specified payments by Entergy to the city based on certain criteria.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo was presented with two checks totaling $1.1 million from Entergy's regional customer service manager Jeff Aycock.
