Story Archives: Road plan takes shape

Road plan takes shape
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ouachita Council of Governments plans to update its transportation plan for the Monroe urbanized area by next month.

The updated version of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan includes a number of recommendations to improve traffic flow throughout the parish over the next 20 years.

The draft Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Monroe urbanized area included recommended improvements throughout Monroe, West Monroe and Richwood.
Before OCOG can adopt the updated plan, citizens will have a chance to comment on the proposed MTP through May 11.

The plan is a forecast of expected traffic flow and needed road improvements through 2030.

One issue of concern will be the forecasted capacity deficiencies, resulting from heavier traffic demands on La. 616, U.S. 80 and La. 15.
