CenturyLink announces another acquisition
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
CenturyLink announced late last week it will acquire Denver's Qwest Communications, making the Monroe company the third largest telecommunications firm in the United States.

CenturyLink's and Qwest Communications' board of directors approved the merger, which would allow CenturyLink to acquire Qwest in a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction.

Based on the closing stock price of CenturyLink on April 21, the transaction reflected an enterprise value of Qwest of approximately $22.4 billion, including the assumption of $11.8 billion of Qwest's net debt outstanding as of December 31, 2009.
