A local Christian ministry will seek votes in May in Pepsi's Refresh Project to acquire funding to assist area children.

Seeker Springs executive director Terry Slawson said the group would compete with people, groups and organizations across the country to receive money from Pepsi for community projects.

Seeker Springs will vie for $50,000 to assist in cost of providing camps throughout the year for foster children as well as other children in need.

The group began providing camp opportunities for local children in 1999. The first camp was held to aid children in southern Monroe who could not otherwise afford camp.
