Area softball teams advance in playoffs
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Several area softball teams will be back in action on Saturday when they continue through the second round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association softball playoffs. In Class 5A, the West Monroe Lady Rebels, a No. 3 seed, will host No. 14 Dominican High School from New Orleans. The Lady Rebels dominated from start to finish in a 11-0 victory over John Ehret High School. Dominican hosted No. 19 Lafayette on Tuesday and came away with a 4-2 victory.

Savannah Dollar picked up her third career playoff victory on the mound for the Lady Rebels. The two schools have a history of playoff meetings in girls athletics. West Monroe beat Dominican to win their first Class 5A basketball state championship in 2004.

The Lady Rebels will be looking to advance to their second consecutive Fast Pitch 56 tournament with a victory this Saturday.
