Doing their part for Earth Day

Students at Ouachita Parish Alternative Center took to the streets Wednesday morning to pick up trash as part of their week-long Earth Day activities.

They jumped from ditch to ditch along several streets near OPAC's facility picking up cans, paper and even tires, while a city of West Monroe public works truck followed closely behind.

Before students set out for several hours of clean-up work, OPAC principal Anthony Killian reminded them that people in the community were proud of their efforts.

"There are people out there who believe in you," Killian told his students.
