While officials with Ouachita Parish Schools continue to review the savings of switching to a four-day school week, Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber doesn't believe the change would be implemented for the 2010-2011 school year.

In mid March, school board member Scott Robinson requested that the school system review the possibility of switching to a four-day week next school year.

The school system in 2008 looked into the benefits of utilizing a four-day school week when gas prices soared to almost $4 per gallon, prompting increased costs for the parish school system. The school board did not act on the idea of a four-day week in 2008 as gas prices eventually declined to sustainable levels.
