'We go in and plant the seed'

Ever since Jamie Wilhite became a Christian, he has focused on lost souls. For the past 20 years, he's looked for them in prisons around Louisiana.

About five years ago, Wilhite spearheaded the prison ministry program at his church, First Baptist Church of West Monroe. He also was recently commissioned by North American Baptist Mission Board to serve as a volunteer chaplain for prison ministry. That allows him to visit prisons to have private, one-on-one meetings with inmates.

Wilhite and members of his church, as well as other church organizations, minister to prison inmates. They hope their work helps inmates choose a different path in life.
