MGSL hosts flower show, presents honors MGSL, a member of The Garden Club of America, recently hosted a flower show at the Biedenharn Museum and Gardens Coca-Cola Museum.
Exhibits at the free show included photography, horticulture, flower arranging, jewelry made from plant materials, and a conservation exhibit on the Mollicy floodplain restoration project.
Several awards to community and state leaders were presented, including the Civic Improvement Award to Secretary of Wildlife and Fisheries for the State of Louisiana Robert Barham for his continuing work with litter abatement and coastal protection; the Horticulture Award to Jim Turner, noted author of Southern gardening and landscape design books; the Historic Preservation Award to the G.B. Cooley Foundation for its work to save the architecturally significant G. B. Cooley House on South Grand in Monroe; and the Conservation Award to Brown for his ongoing work as president of the Tensas River Levee Board.
