Swartz Upper Elementary School recently held a social studies fair for students in fifth and sixth grades. Jean Taraba orchestrated the fair with help from Angie Brown and Susan Garrett. The following students who were awarded special recognition: Anthropology 1st – Taylor Brooke Jackson & Brandi Bell – "Mardi Gras" 2nd – Scotlynn Pierce – "Paranormal Side of the Myrtles" Economics 1st – Cade Hunter – "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" 2nd – Cassie Lewis – "Great Depression" 3rd – Kiley Huggins – "Does Practice Payoff?" Geography 1st – Tanner Jolley & Drake Jolley – "Devastation of New Orleans" 2nd – Haley Gregory – "The Myrtles" History 1st – Spencer Blackmon & Cody Morrow – "WW II" 2nd – Wyatt Williamson – "Blue Angels" 3rd – Camille Miller – "Miss America" Honorable Mention – Alex Walton – "Let's Take it to the Hoops!"
