River Oaks defeats Prairie View
The River Oaks Mustangs will be back in district 6-2A action at 2 p.m. Friday when they battle the Prairie View Academy Spartans in Bastrop.
River Oaks met Prairie View for the first time on Tuesday night and dismantled the Spartans 16-6 in six innings. The win ran the district record of the Mustangs up to 2-1 as they continue to battle for the district's final playoff spot.
The top two teams in each district advance to the postseason. PVA is now 3-1 in district. Vincent Moore provided all the fireworks on offense that the Mustangs would need as he hit a pair of late home runs. The final blast was the final nail in the coffin for PVA.
Moore now has four home runs this season.
