Story Archives: Tax refund plan approved

Tax refund plan approved
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ouachita Parish taxpayers will receive a refund of the money they paid for a property tax collected for 2009 that was intended to help V-Vehicle Co. establish an automobile manufacturing plant in eastern Ouachita.

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury approved the refund Monday during its regular meeting. Monies collected from a 1.8-mill property tax, which parish voters approved last fall, will be refunded to people and businesses that paid property taxes for 2009 following a June 9 tax sale.

After the June 9 tax sale, the parish can close the books on 2009's delinquent property taxes.
