Area projects in proposed capital outlay plan
by Scott Rogers - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Funding for several northeast Louisiana projects have been proposed to the Legislature in Gov. Bobby Jindal's capital construction bill.

In Ouachita Parish, these projects include $200,000 for expanding the West Ouachita Senior Center in West Monroe; $1.1 million toward planning and construction for the Interstate 20 interchange and Kansas Lane-Garrett Road connector in Monroe; $1 million toward planning and construction for a new youth vocational education center in Monroe; and $1.5 million for renovations and improvements to the University of Louisiana-Monroe's Chemistry and Natural Science building.

The West Ouachita Senior Center plans to expand its facility to provide more space for local seniors, as well as make it an adequate hurricane evacuation center.
