Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Lane Carson will keep a close eye on the upcoming legislative session as agencies throughout the state face cuts in state funding for the new fiscal year.

Carson said Veterans Affairs had looked at several ways it could be more efficient and effective in light of the likelihood that it will receive less money from the state for the 2010-2011 fiscal year, which begins July 1.

The Legislature begins its regular session Monday.
