He died so that we may live
 This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 116:24).
We know that David was not speaking about "Easter" here for obvious reasons, but he was prophesying the coming Savior. These things we know, Jesus died that we might live. He was buried ... and arose again to accomplish victory over death for us (I Corinthians 15).
The closing words of that astounding revelation are: "Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through the Lord, Jesus Christ."
How beautifully the old hymn expresses it:
"Low in the grave he lay Jesus, my Savior, Waiting the coming day, Jesus, my Lord.
