Dunn begins another title quest

Growing up on the south side of Monroe, LaceDarius Dunn never dreamed that he would one day end up six hours away from home as one of the brightest stars in the Big 12 Conference for the Baylor University Bears basketball team.

"It was hard to move away from all my friends and family," Dunn said. "To come out here six hours away from home where you don't really know anybody. It has been a blessing."

The former Excelsior Christian School star— who as a sophomore led the now defunct school to a Class C LHSAA state championship 2005 — said he has always made the most of every opportunity. Dunn credits local youth basketball coach Neal Reed with first giving him the chance to hold a basketball.
