Carroll thumped by Vidalia in Class 3A final The Carroll Bulldogs (25-11) saw their magical run to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A boys basketball state title game come to a crashing end Friday after a 82-59 loss to Vidalia (30-2).
The Vidalia Vikings got out to an early lead after a Carroll turnover led to a quick Viking basket just seconds into the game. Carroll couldn't get the baskets they needed to make their dreams reality. The Bulldogs committed 22 turnovers in all, and made just 9-of 18 shots from the charity stripe.
"We shot the worst we've shot all year," Carroll coach Jesse Burnette said. "When you can't shoot the ball and you turn it over quickly, that's what happens. We just didn't get the ball to the right spots and didn't make the right passes. We just couldn't get into the flow. Nerves might have had something to do with it too."
