Sutherlin speaks at ESU meeting

The English-Speaking Union met Thursday, Feb. 25, with President Joan Chardkoff presiding.
She welcomed the members and guests before Fred Huenefeld introduced the speaker, Dr. John Sutherlin, a professor of political science at University of Louisiana-Monroe.

His most timely topic was "Louisiana's Brain Drain." Being shown currently on the Public Broadcasting Station is the documentary film, "Stay Brady Stay," which Sutherlin produced.

The speaker emphasized the dilemma facing many college graduates — whether to remain in the state of Louisiana or move to a more appealing hob in another state. Statistics reflect many of the brightest Louisianians are locating elsewhere. A lively question-and-answer session followed his talk.
