Louisiana Technical College Region 8 in western Ouachita Parish will now be known as the Northeast Louisiana Technical College.

During the March board meeting of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System's board of supervisors, the board approved institutional name changes for the seven technical college regions.

The approved name changes will be implemented as a result of an extensive accreditation process conducted by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) which was based upon a new regional technical college model as opposed to the previous campus-by-campus accreditation model which had been used since earlier in the colleges' existence, according to LCTCS president Dr. Joe May.
