Bulldogs battle Vikings for gold
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Carroll Bulldogs will be playing for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A boys basketball state championship Friday night. The Bulldogs earned the spot in the title game with a 70-63 win over local rival Richwood on Tuesday night.

The win sets up a title game for Carroll against No. 1 Vidalia. The Vikings beat No. 5 Abbeville 62-48 on Tuesday and will be making their second straight appearance in the Class 3A championship game. Ironically, Vidalia ended their season last year with a loss in the title game to the same Richwood team that Carroll took down Tuesday.

Carroll head coach Jesse Burnette is no stranger to these types of big games. Burnette coached Carroll to a state championship in 2002 when they defeated Bunkie, 55-47.
"I am just excited for our kids," Burnett said after the game. "I have been in the finals before, these kids never have."
