Deputy laid to rest
Ouachita Parish says goodbye to one of its own One of the hardest things Monroe Police Cpl. Dennis Wall had to do over the weekend was put on his uniform.
His best friend from childhood, and the best man in his wedding, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Cpl. J.R. Searcy, died Saturday night.
Hundreds of friends and family members and members of the law enforcement community gathered today (Thursday), March 11, to mourn the loss of Searcy, who was injured in the line of duty late last week.
"We've been friends since the fourth grade … I love that family to death," Wall said of J.R. Searcy and his family. For the full report, see Page 1A of this week's Citizen.
Subscribe to The Ouachita Citizen, your locally owned newspaper since 1924, by calling (318) 322-3161, ext 201. A one-year subscription costs a low $25 for Ouachita Parish addresses. We honor senior citizens with a discounted $20 per year rate for parish delivery. |
