Deadline arrives for V-Vehicle

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury unanimously approved a resolution Monday to issue $11.5 million in bonded indebtedness as part of local governments' financial obligation to V-Vehicle Co.

Though the police jury approved a resolution to sell $11.5 million in bonds, the bonds will not be sold if V-Vehicle does not meet financial obligations the company agreed to when it signed a cooperative endeavor agreement last year with state and local governments, according to police jury president Shane Smiley.

Smiley said the police jury approved the resolution to issue the $11.5 million in bonded indebtedness to prevent any delays in issuing bonds if V-Vehicle is successful in meeting its financial obligations by a March 1 deadline.
